Hello wonderful people, today I feel like it is time for one more little introduction to my life. Although I do not want to make this post a 20 pages essay, I still want to give you a brief introduction to some of the amazing adventures I have gone on in my life.
I have (almost) always been an adventure-loving “globe trotter”. I left my family nest right after finishing high school by taking my first hitchhiking trip. It took 18 days and I and my friend went from the Czech Republic to France and back. Then I started an au-pair program in the USA, California for a year, which taught me a lot. After a year of working as a live-in babysitter, we also got the chance to stay one more month to travel around the USA if we wanted.
And I definitely wanted to, because I could travel to my dream destination that way – Hawaii! I traveled around the islands with my Czech friend from the USA, who was also an au-pair there. One of my biggest dreams since I was in high school, was to see a sunset from a mountain called Haleakala on Maui island, and we made it there, and it was gorgeous.
Then I came back home to the Czech Republic, and worked at a local bakery for a few months, to save some money. After 6 months I returned back to the USA, to stay with a friend there and babysit again.
Do adventures come with obstacles?
Three months after returning to California, I had to leave the country due to my visa but I was planning to come back, to work for the same family again. So then after one month in my hometown, I returned back to California, this time only for one month, because I had to start university in Denmark in September. It was a crazy ride! Back and forth around the world so many times in a short time. Packing and unpacking, my life was basically a suitcase – and I loved it!
Of course, I have encountered a rather large number of obstacles on all the adventures, but I had no doubt that I could overcome and get through anything in my life, as long as I have myself by my side, I can think clearly and am able to work (also, having my family and friends just a phone call away definitely helped too!).
How about hitching rides throughout Europe?
During those years, I also went on two more hitch-hiking adventures around Europe in between all the flights, the longest one being from the Czech Republic all the way to Barcelona, on my own, in about 9 days. I slept at the homes of the friends I made during my previous travels, in Switzerland and Italy. A pepper spray was always in my pocket, for a sense of security, but mostly I was relying on my intuition. In Barcelona, I also reunited with my Australian friend Tash, whom I traveled with in Kauai, an island in Hawaii.
The last hitch-hiking trip was from Austria where I met up with my friend, my cousin, and his friend and we did a hitch-hiking race: boys versus girls – Austria to Venezia. And the guys won! But it was definitely amazing and fun in any case.
It felt like life just made some crazy sense. I always strived to have an open mind about what is going to come next or where life will take me because you never really know.
At the same time, I think I always had sort of a clear vision of my next “dream”. I wouldn’t call it a next step or a next move. But the next “dream”, is the right word for me. I always saw myself doing those things I got to do, all the adventures before I actually got to do them. The steps on the way toward those dreams have always just presented themselves throughout time. As well as the right people to guide me when needed. And I was led by my intuition to follow them.
Thailand adventures
When I was 17 I watched the movie “The Beach” with some of my friends and I fell in love with the island. I was sure I would get to stay in that place at some point in my life. Later, about 3 years after that, in between my stays in the USA, I also had a part-time job at a gym in my hometown, where we had brochures about exotic travel. One of them was for travel in Asia and I saw pages about Thailand there. At that moment, my mind was made up – I was going to stay and “live” in Thailand for a month.
After finishing an AP degree (which is half of a BA in Denmark and it takes 2 years to finish), I decided to make that dream come true – to stay in Thailand for a month. I booked the tickets around 3 months in advance to ensure a better price and to make sure I cannot find an excuse not to go.
It was again full of amazing moments, and feelings of crazy gratitude, but also some setbacks, mild injuries, and uncomfortable feelings (such as my laptop getting into the sea while I had an injured toe). But that was all a part of the adventure.
To wrap it up
After that, I also lived in the UK for a little bit at a friend’s place and worked there at a cafe. Then I came home for Christmas and COVID started, so I stayed home for about two years, worked an office job for the first time in my life, and then came back to Denmark to finish my studies and keep chasing new horizons.
So, all of the dreams, including living with an amazing family in dreamy California, traveling to Hawaii, staying in Thailand for a month, and starting a school in Denmark, that was just a picture in my mind before they happened. I am a strong believer in manifestation. I am sure that we can make anything happen for us if we can imagine it in our minds. There is the saying “if you can dream it, you can do it”. And it has proven to be true so many times that I cannot go back to not believing it.
To finish this up, I would like to encourage you all who read it, to dare to dream!
There are so many amazing things you can make happen. Do not let your fear stop you, do not let others stop you, and – do not let yourself stop you! Trust your intuition in the process and make a wish.
