Such a strange question, isn’t it? Nobody likes getting embarrassed. It is uncomfortable and it doesn’t feel nice. But that is the thing. Growth lies within the “uncomfortable” and out of the cotton blanket of our comfort zone. When you do something unordinary, something that is not perceived as the usual, you might experience a fear of embarrassment, fear of being made fun of, or fear of rejection and humiliation.
I watched an amazing podcast today, where the interviewee was saying, that in order to become successful or to achieve certain things we want to achieve in our lives, we have to come to peace with the fact that we might get embarrassed on the way. Or more like – we might feel embarrassed. What the reality is, whether we actually do embarrass ourselves or not, is another story. And to some extent, that does not need to worry us.
Getting out of the comfort zone
On the way to success and to the feeling of accomplishment or achieving your dreams, there are many things that we will have to do, to get to our desired destination. We will have to step out of our comfort zones, depending on what is required of us to do, we might have to get into the spotlight, and learn how to speak up or how to initiate conversations with people. Which can sometimes feel awkward or out of place. Especially if you are new to these things, it might feel like you are doing it all wrong.
Why it is OK to fail
I know the feeling personally and there is no running away from that, other than accepting that this is what it will feel like for some time, and moving on. However, I did not know that until I heard it in the podcast. I did not know how to navigate through the emotions of embarrassment after sharing a video or a post and thought that it might be a sign of being on the wrong track. But what I realized after watching that episode is, that it only means you are growing, getting better each time and these steps you are taking are necessary in order to be better next time.
It is almost inevitable to fail during our lives and our journeys. It will happen. Many times. People will say “no”, and people might judge or put us down from time to time, but it doesn’t mean that we are doing it wrong. It just means we are still learning and it is a process of getting better as human beings, entrepreneurs, businessmen, or in life in general.
I just wanted to put this out there, because I think it is really important to realize, to know, and to live a freer life, after accepting this.
I wish you all a wonderful night, day or whatever time you find yourselves in.
